Process to detect source/origin of installs

Please provide the following:

  1. SDK Version: 46
  2. Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android/iOS
  3. Add the appropriate “Tag” based on what Expo library you have a question on.

I am looking to be able to start tracking where installs are coming from. I am completely not familiar with this process. I’ve been reading and seeing attribution, conversions, linking, etc. But not sure I follow which one is used with what and how it works with thins like Branch or AppsFlyer.
I’d prefer not third-party setup for now, just be able to log to my own API any information that the app stores would pass upon install.
Is there a similar concept to website where we can detect the window URL and parse all parameters?
Are Play Store and App Store both passing some info into the app when it’s being installed?
