Notification Icon is a White Square when receiving Android Push Notifications in Background.

Please provide the following:

  1. SDK Version: 48
  2. Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android

I’m currently facing an issue with background notifications via FCM on android has a white square as the notification icon instead of the icon I have set. This works as expected on the foreground.

I have followed the available guidelines provided here. But still not working as expected.

As mentioned above, this is only an issue on the background not the foreground.

Any assistance would be appreciated!

Just to mention, I prebuild the /android folder in this case using npx expo prebuild. Are there extra steps I should take to get this to work?
