Trying to upgrade expo SDK 45 to SDK 46- the embedded manifest is invalid

Please provide the following:

  1. SDK Version: 46
  2. Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android, iOS
  3. Add the appropriate “Tag” based on what Expo library you have a question on.

The app build was working fine. I needed the expo-image-picker multi-image selection feature from SDK 46 and upgraded expo to 46. Then built the app for android platform, which crashes with error message- the embedded manifest is invalid. Make sure you have configured expo-updates correctly. I am using expo-updates to restart the app in a screen. Worked in SDK 45 out of the box. Now crashes the whole app in the start.

What is the proper way to upgrade? I am using the managed expo, not bare, so cannot edit manifest files. Thank you.
