If I have to embed a google map into a website I would still need an api key.

How come Google Maps in Expo does not need an api key to work?
If I follow this tutorial: MapView - Expo Documentation
I can just display a map, place markers on it, etc…
Do Expo have some special api key built in that allows the use of the service?
If I supply my own I guess it will override these?
