Expo Publish in a Custom Dev Client

Hey there, I’m using a custom dev client and tried publishing minor updates with expo publish multiple times but they never show up. But when I rebuild the app and submit it to the app store, I see the changes. Do I need to keep rebuilding or I’m doing something wrong with expo publish ? thanks.
