Can I still use Notifications.getExpoPushTokenAsync() if my production will run on Testflight?

Really confused as to whether Expo push notifications can still be used if the ultimate goal is to publish the app? It looks like Notifications.getExpoPushTokenAsync() is entirely based on getting the permission from the Expo app on iOS. If this is the case, what should I do for production? Thank you!
