Background upload of images

Hello
Is background upload of images supported by expo?
I noticed this feature request about background tasks has been completed:

however, another topic states it’s still not possible to upload in the background:

I’m a little bit confused if expo has way to upload images in the background and this is not reflected in docs yet? or this feature request is still in progress?
If this is still planned feature - do we know when it could be available?
