App Size on App Store iOS pretty big (80mb for an ipa file of 192mb)

  1. SDK Version: 35
  2. Platforms(Android/iOS/web/all): Android / iOS

Hello,

I know the size of the app subject has been treated numerous time, however I do not manage to find an explanation for my personal case.

On Android everything is fine, especially using the app bundle function:

  • aab file was 50Mb and app on store is 17Mb

On iOS is the issue:

  • ipa file is 192Mb which I understand is pretty normal due to bitcode
  • app to download on App store is 80mb which seems very much disproportionate.

I am using the managed workflow and was wondering if there would be a way to be closer to the size of the app in the Play Store on iOS. While I don’t mind around 30mb, 80mb seems a lot and not in relation with the complexity of the app.

I looked for ressources online and in the forum but didn’t find anything regarding a managed workflow app to reduce its size.

Also to note, seems the app size doubles on the App Store by going from Skd 33 to 35.
