Android - App.json icon and version code not working.

Hi All! The only way I’ve been able to update the versionCode is to edit the build.gradle file, and I also can’t get my app icon to display. I assume there is something within my edits in build.gradle overriding app.json, but I’m not sure how to reset it? I run eas build and eas submit to deploy my app. I do not have any issues with IOS.

I suspect you ran something like expo run:android at some point. This has the effect of basically turning your app into a “bare workflow” app.

Hi @orome expo run:* has the unfortunate (in my opinion) side effect of basically turning your app into a bare workflow app. Because the Expo Team has done an amazing job of supporting normal React Native apps this is not a huge problem, but it means you have a few options for what you can/should do: You could switch back to the managed workflow by reverting the changes made by expo run, including removing the android and ios directories entirely and optionally reverting changes to .gitignor…
